Hezbollah Launches New Missile Falaq-2 in Response to Israeli Actions

Hezbollah has recently launched a new missile, designated as Falaq-2, as part of its ongoing operations in response to Israel's aggressive actions towards the Gaza Strip and Lebanon's southern regions. The Lebanese resistance movement announced this development through a statement issued on Saturday, specifying that the target of the operation was the headquarters of the Sahel battalion in the Beit Hillel Barracks, situated within the occupied Palestinian territories.

In light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 36,800 civilians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives since the commencement of hostilities, Israel has initiated sporadic attacks against Lebanon, prompting a counter-response from Hezbollah. This marks the first instance of Hezbollah utilizing the Falaq-2 missile during the Al-Aqsa Storm operation.

Characteristics of the Falaq-2 missile include its solid-fueled propulsion system and high destructive capacity, surpassing those of its predecessor, the Falaq-1. Notably, while the Falaq-1 measures 240 mm in caliber, 1.25 meters in length, and employs a 50-kilogram warhead, the Falaq-2 boasts a larger caliber of 333 mm, increased length of 1.82 meters, and a heavier warhead weighing 117 kilograms.

A senior Hezbollah official, Mohammad Raad, who serves as the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, has stated that his organization remains prepared for all potential scenarios, yet categorically rules out the likelihood of a large-scale war between Israel and Lebanon. According to Raad, Israel's threats of military action against Lebanon are merely intended to boost troop morale amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
