Iranian intelligence has located and detained an individual in Ardabil Province, northwest of the country, on allegations of spying for the Israeli regime's Mossad agency.
The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was a subject of interest for Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and was apprehended following an order from the Prosecutor's Office of Ardabil Province.
According to the Media Bureau of the provincial Prosecutor's Office, the Mossad operative maintained close communication with prominent Israeli intelligence officers through social media platforms, masquerading as a news editor while gathering crucial information for them.
He attempted to seek refuge in various provinces and leave the country before being identified and captured during an unexpected operation in Ardabil Province. The detained spy is said to originate from a southern region of Iran.
Upon learning of his arrest, Mossad promptly closed his user accounts and removed associated information.
Earlier this year, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced the detection of numerous Mossad-linked spies in 28 countries globally. Described as the “largest combined intelligence and counter-intelligence operation,” the initiative involved a series of offensive and defensive measures, resulting in the acquisition of substantial intelligence, including details on significant military installations, arms manufacturing facilities, and key civilian industries of the Israeli regime.
