Israel's Recruitment of Indian Laborers: A New Initiative Amid Labor Shortages
The country is launching a second recruitment drive after 10,349 construction workers were selected in a previous phase
Bagheri Kani spoke on the sidelines of the International Summit on Gaza, dubbed "The Oppressed but Resistant," in Tehran on Saturday.
During their conversations, the President noted that Iran had a vital role in strengthening the resistance of the people of Palestine in confronting the acts of aggression by the Israeli regime.
He added that, lacking Western diplomatic ties, the Islamic Republic's diplomatic efforts have focused since the beginning of Israel's war on Gaza some eight months ago on how to halt the regime's crimes and genocide in the strip.
The interim foreign minister added that he would likely travel to Lebanon and Syria in the coming days for talks with authorities from the two countries, in addition to officials of the resistance front, about ways to oppose the Israeli regime.
The minister said he has proposed in phone conversations with foreign ministers of Muslim countries that an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) be held.
He said consultations were underway to arrange the meeting in a Muslim country's capital like Jeddah, which hosts the OIC main headquarters, shortly.
Al-Aqsa Storm was a retaliatory operation staged by the resistance movements in Palestine in October 2023, and Israel launched a war against Gaza in response.
This military onslaught has killed nearly 36,379 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and has injured 82,407 people. Egypt and Qatar were mediating effectively towards reaching a ceasefire agreement following one in November, through which the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas released 105 of the captives it had taken during the Al-Aqsa Storm. But in early May, Hamas accepted yet another truce proposal under which Israeli aggression could stop and the release of all other captives could be worked out.
