The Israeli army reportedly attacked several areas along the border in southern Lebanon with artillery fire, killing nine members of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.
Since October 8, the day after the start of the Israeli attack on Gaza, deadly exchanges of fire have taken place on the border between Lebanon and the territories occupied by Israel, mainly between the Israeli army and the Hezbollah movement.
Israel reportedly repeatedly used internationally banned, US-supplied white phosphorus munitions in its attacks on Lebanon.
The fighting has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from the northern part of the Israeli-occupied territories, which have been hit by rocket and grenade fire from Hezbollah and allied Palestinian groups.
Around 143 Hezbollah fighters have lost their lives since the start of the conflict, and around 11 Israeli soldiers have also been killed. Lebanese Arabic-language television channel al-Manar reported on Thursday that shells were fired at the villages of Taybeh, Kfarkela, Khiam and the Marjayoun plain as the occupying regime continues its aggressive attacks on southern Lebanon.
An Israeli drone was also found to have carried out an airstrike by firing a guided missile at the southern Lebanese border town of Yaroun.
In a statement, the Israeli army said it had attacked Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, adding that it would continue its attacks "at its own discretion."
It was also indicated that the alert status of the occupying forces on the northern border had been raised to the highest possible level.
