Nuland advocates for Ukraine to use US weapons for strikes into Russia.

Former senior Department of State official Victoria Nuland believes that the US should permit Kiev to use its weapons to strike "Russian bases" deep within the country.

American military aid to Ukraine has been conditional, barring the use of weapons to target what the US considers Russian territory, as opposed to contested regions recognized by Kiev. Nuland, who has long influenced US foreign policy in Europe, advocates for lifting this restriction.

"They need to be able to stop these Russian attacks coming from bases inside Russia," she told the press, urging for more assistance from the US and allies in targeting such bases, a step previously avoided.

Nuland's stance echoes British Foreign Secretary David Cameron's recent suggestion that Ukraine "has the right" to strike Russian targets with UK-provided weapons. Moscow warned of retaliation against British military assets if such attacks occurred.

Ukrainian officials have reportedly intensified lobbying efforts in Washington to pressure the White House on arms policy, attributing Russia's advances in Kharkov Region to Kiev's inability to launch preemptive cross-border strikes.

Nuland accused Moscow of escalating the conflict and claimed Russian forces had already "flattened a third of Kharkov," though evidence supporting this assertion is lacking.

She argued that permitting attacks on "Russian bases" wouldn't escalate tensions, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that the operation in Kharkov aimed to neutralize Ukraine's ability to target Russia's Belgorod Region. Putin clarified that Moscow isn't seeking to engage in combat for Kharkov, Ukraine's second-largest city.
