The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are partners in India's new opposition bloc, formed to challenge the BJP in the 2024 general election. But some members of both parties are unhappy with the alliance.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), both members of the Congress, and the newly formed Indian National Development Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) held a crucial meeting in New Delhi on Monday to discuss seat allocation for the 2024 general elections.

According to media reports, the meeting was held to discuss seat-sharing in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab and Delhi, which are currently ruled by the AAP. Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats, Punjab has 13 and there are reports of discord between AAP and Congress members in both states.

According to media reports, AAP is ready to offer only two seats in the Delhi Assembly, while the Punjab unit of the Congress wants to enter the Assembly on its own in the state. In the 2019 assembly elections, all seven seats in Delhi were won by the BJP, while in Punjab, the Congress currently holds seven of the 13 seats and the AAP holds one seat. BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have two seats each, one of which is held by SAD (Amritsar). The meeting was attended by former Rajasthan Congress president Ashok Gehlot, Delhi unit chief Mukul Wasnik, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Salman Khurshid, and Mohan Prakash. On the AAP side were Member of the National Assembly Sandeep Pathak, Delhi Minister Atishi, and Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj. Addressing the media after the meeting, Gehlot said that all parties in this grand alliance will have to make sacrifices as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will no longer be the prime minister if he succeeds.

“Nobody has to worry about what anybody else says. When such a large alliance is formed, everyone has to compromise and make sacrifices. Congress has taken over and the good news is spreading across the country that the process is progressing... If the alliance is successful, it will not be surprising if PM Modi fails to form a government. Next time, Gehlot said. At the same time, Vasnik said that many issues related to the elections were discussed and that the negotiations will continue.

He continued: “We will meet again to take the final decision on the number of seats. Everything was discussed in detail. "We will fight the elections together and give BJP a befitting reward," he said. all
However, no AAP member was immediately available for comment.

The meeting is seen as an attempt by the Congress to resolve India's internal conflict. Block him and ensure that the alliance poses a major challenge to the ruling BJP.
