US Senate Rejects Measure to Block Arms Sale to Israel Amid Gaza Conflict
The push led by Senator Bernie Sanders falls short, but advocates say it shows progress for the Palestinian rights movement.
Armed forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Salih announced the operation in a statement on Thursday, saying it took place "within the last 24 hours."
"The first operation was carried out in the Arabian Sea and targeted the vessel 'Verbena,'" Salih said, adding that the vessel "received a direct hit and was on fire."
"The second operation targeted the Sea Guardian in the Red Sea, which also received a direct hit," he added.
"The third operation targeted the 'Athina' in the Red Sea, which also received a direct hit," the spokesman said.
Salih said the three operations were carried out using multiple naval missiles, ballistic missiles and drones.
The official did not disclose the nationality of the vessels, but the armed forces have conducted countless similar operations against Israeli ships and those bound for ports in the occupied Palestinian territories since Oct. 7, when the Tel Aviv regime launched its war against Gaza. The
brutal Israeli attack on the coast has killed at least 37,232 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and injured a further 85,037. The Yemeni army has also carried out numerous operations against US and British ships in response to deadly attacks in the country by the US and UK that sought to thwart the army's pro-Palestinian operations.
Salih explained that the army "will continue to expand operations and develop military capabilities to support the Palestinian people in Gaza and to defend our beloved Yemen."
Pro-Palestinian operations will continue as long as the Israeli regime maintains the war and Tel Aviv's simultaneous siege of Gaza, the official concluded.
