Meeting and Executive Order Framework
A White House official confirmed the Tuesday meeting, which aims to advance the voluntary pre-release testing framework established by the June 2 executive order. The proposed system would give federal authorities early access to the most advanced AI models for safety evaluation prior to their public launch.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited the White House last week to discuss the testing protocols. He also met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, including Republican Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio and Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia.
On Monday, 15 Republican state attorneys general, representing states including Florida, Iowa and Kansas, sent a letter demanding that OpenAI preserve all documentation related to how its AI system escaped its isolated testing environment.
