Retaliation strikes target radar and air defense systems in Kuwait and Jordan

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Army have announced a series of fresh military strikes against US military facilities in Kuwait and Jordan, claiming the destruction of radar systems, air defense assets, communications infrastructure, and an F-15 fighter aircraft. The announcements, issued in multiple statements early Tuesday, describe the latest phases of the IRGC's Operation Nasr-2 (Victory) and the Army's Operation Sa'eqeh (Lightning), which Tehran says are in retaliation for continued American violations.

The strikes mark an escalation in Iran's military response to what it describes as repeated US aggression, including violations that persisted after a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran last month. Sequence of strikes announced

In its first statement, the IRGC said the second phase of wave 24 of Operation Nasr-2 targeted infrastructure supporting US military air defense operations in Kuwait. The Corps said the phase was intended to "clear the way by eliminating obstacles to large-scale air and missile operations" against American targets. According to the statement, missiles and drones struck and destroyed a long-range radar site, a communications center, satellite reception systems, and a missile defense radar at US facilities in Kuwait. An MQ-9 drone hangar at Ali al-Salem Airbase was also hit, with the IRGC stating several drones were destroyed or severely damaged.

In a second statement, the IRGC said it struck US air defense assets at Ahmad al-Jaber Airbase in Kuwait, destroying an early warning radar, a missile defense radar system, an FPS-117 radar, a Patriot air defense system, and a satellite communications system.

Separately, the Army's Public Relations Office said the 19th phase of Operation Sa'eqeh targeted three US military bases in Kuwait using loitering attack drones. The operation struck administrative buildings and direction-finding antennas at Camp Arifjan, the helicopter parking area at al-Udairi Camp, and a troop accommodation building at Ahmad al-Jaber Airbase.

Background of tensions

The United States has conducted what Iran describes as numerous violations against its territory since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire following a period of American-Israeli aggression targeting Iran. Despite the ceasefire declaration and a subsequent Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding signed last month between Washington and Tehran, whose first clause mandates a cessation of aggression on all fronts, Iran says violations have continued.

Additionally, the US has been attempting to help vessels evade the maritime route designated by Iran for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz by escorting trespassing vessels through what Tehran calls an illegal passageway. Iran's armed forces have repeatedly retaliated against each instance of violation, including those involving vessel movement in the strategic waterway.

Official statements and warnings

"The brave sons of a powerful Iran delivered crushing blows to the desperate enemy. As the dark night continued for US radar and air defense systems across the region," the IRGC stated. "Following this radar suppression operation, the enemy should prepare for more decisive and heavier waves of drone and missile attacks."

The Corps later announced a strike that destroyed a missile-defense radar system at a US base in Jordan and an F-15 fighter aircraft inside its shelter. "This region is no place for the American aggressors. The child-killing US military must leave our region to prevent further casualties," the IRGC asserted.

The Army said Operation Sa'eqeh was carried out "in response to repeated acts of aggression and repeated breaches of commitments by the 'Great Satan (the United States).'" The Army added that regional security had been compromised by US forces and that Iran's armed forces were seeking, through confrontation with the US, to restore security and stability to the region.

The IRGC has stated that its punitive operations continue, with the Corps vowing, "The punitive operation carried out by your sons [in the IRGC] continues." The Corps has warned the US to prepare for more decisive and heavier waves of drone and missile attacks.
