Protests and Police Response
Demonstrators gathered Monday evening in Bologna demanding "justice and truth for Fakir." Police deployed tear gas and water cannon after protesters threw firecrackers. A smaller group continued clashing with officers late into the night, leaving 64 officers injured, according to prosecutors.
Bologna prosecutors have opened a formal investigation into Fakir's death and requested bodycam footage worn by the officers involved. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Fakir's death must be fully investigated but added that "nothing can justify violence against law enforcement."
